[Greymass Newsletter] Coffee With Greymass is back, Anchor Android updates, and more!
+ Get a sneak peek into the new Anchor Authenticator.
Hello, and happy October! Fall has started in earnest, and here at Greymass, we’ve been enjoying all the back-to-school vibes and thinking about our Halloween costumes (what’s scarier: a ripped up Owner Key Certificate, or a smashed Ledger?). But that’s not all we’ve been up to — check out the rest of this newsletter for the return of Coffee with Greymass, a sneak peek into the new Anchor Authenticator, an update on Pomelo, and more.
Coffee With Greymass is back!
After an almost year-long hiatus, Aaron and Myles have returned to the mic to discuss what it’s like to be a crypto-native company. Our two most recent episodes cover the Leap Upgrade and how Greymass came to be, so be sure to give them a listen.
We’ll also be doing a Q&A episode soon, so if you’ve ever wondered about our name, or why account creation costs $1.99, or if we have an AI robot working for us… now’s your chance to get some answers! Send your questions to hello@greymass.com or reach us on Twitter @greymass.
Need some light crypto reading?
It’s not just the podcast that we’ve resurrected recently — our blog is hopping too! (Or… leaping? How many antelope puns are required these days?) If you don’t follow us on Medium, here’s what you might have missed.
Your Guide to the Leap Upgrade for Antelope: The Leap Upgrade happened on September 21st, and we’re so proud of EOSIO/Antelope for moving over to a completely community-led codebase. If you’re still fuzzy on what the Upgrade was and what it means for you, then this guide has you covered.
Your Guide to Voting on EOS: We’ve been dedicated to helping people vote on EOS since Day 1, and we’re still passionate about helping people exercise their right to vote for block producers on the network. If you’re new to voting on EOS, or need to explain BP voting to a friend, then this post is perfect for you.
Greymass September Progress Update: Want to know what’s coming down the Greymass pipeline? Our September Progress Update has a sneak peek into our vision for the crypto wallet of the future: the Anchor Authenticator.
Pomelo update: we couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks to your support, Greymass’ Anchor proposal became one of the top grants in the most recent Pomelo season, with 162 unique contributors! We’re so appreciative and humbled by your enthusiasm for our products, and we’re excited to make Anchor the best it can be.
Recent changes to Anchor for Android.
And speaking of Pomelo, here’s what your continued support made possible in the past month! If you use Anchor Android, here’s some changes you can expect with the most recent 0.43 release:
Small device love: Maybe you’re on a smaller Android phone. Hey, that’s cool! But what’s not cool is that sometimes Anchor screens and features must have looked a little weird. We’ve fixed that now, so that your smaller device gets the love and support it deserves.
Option to turn off transaction scrolling: We usually require that users scroll down to the bottom of the screen before confirming a transaction. This is a safety measure, to make sure you know what you’re signing (and not getting scammed). But you’re an adult, so if you’d rather confirm your transactions more quickly, you can now turn off this scrolling in your device settings.
Stronger biometric security for keys: Have you ever thought about what would happen if someone else added their fingerprint or face ID to your device? They would have access to your private keys, for one thing. But if you want to prevent that from happening, you can now choose to make imported accounts unusable every time a new biometric enrollment happens, to keep your keys extra safe.
Need to update your Anchor Android app? You can do so on the Play Store.
Cheers,
The Greymass Team
